This summer the University Libraries will serve as a book drive collection point for Teacher’s Desk, a non-profit organization that lets teachers shop for free books, school supplies and other resources for students in their classrooms.

Teacher’s Desk also distributes free school supplies to students in need.

During the University Libraries book drive, new and gently used age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction books for grades K-12 may be donated at the following drop-off locations:

  • Office of the Vice Provost for University Libraries, 433 Capen, North Campus
  • Charles B. Sears Law Library lobby, O’Brian Hall, North Campus
  • 221C Lockwood Memorial Library, North Campus
  • 120C (the Green Room) Abbott Hall, South Campus

Donation boxes will be available until Aug. 1.

All Pre-K through 12th grade schools located in Western New York that have 70 percent or more of their students participating in the Federal Free or Reduced School Lunch Program may submit an application to shop at the Teacher’s Desk.

Each school year, more than 6,000 teachers shop at the store, located on Main Street, serving 150,000 students. More than $6 million in products are donated.
